Ukrainian customs for weddings

A Ukrainian bridal is a breathtakingly beautiful event that is jam-packed with dances and music. It can last many days with countless songs, celebrations, and various festivities. It is typically held on a Saturday ( though extremely religious ceremonies can be performed on Sunday ).

Just before the church festival starts, one of the most significant ceremonies takes place. The bride and groom meet their respective families at the home of the couple’s parents during this event, known as the Blahoslovenya. Here, the families of the bride and groom formally review of their babies getting married. On their special day, the bridegroom likewise gets to meet the bride here for the first day.

The spouses are given a rushnyk (embroidered towel) to phase on after meeting their relatives. In their relationship, it is thought that whoever occupies it first will be the head of the household. Before taking their commitments, the couple steps on this handkerchief that they brought with them to the religion.

Another custom that takes place during the temple service is when several godparent couples bless the couple. It’s really a sight to see that there are frequently 10 or more godparent spouses per couple! These are also the exact people who will look after them and send them their best wishes for a happy relationship. The few eventually makes their way down the aisle hand in hand and accepts their veneers from the pastor, demonstrating that they are a true team!
